Frequently Asked Questions for Colorado Remote Clients
Can a California-based therapist legally see clients living in Colorado?
Yes. I am a licensed psychologist explicitly registered and licensed to practice in both California and Colorado. Because tele-health regulations require a therapist to be licensed in the state where the client physically sits during the session, my Zoom sessions are fully compliant, legal, and recognized under state licensing boards.
What styles of couples therapy do you offer via Zoom?
I specialize in high-impact modalities that transition beautifully to a virtual format, including Imago Relationship Therapy and Discernment Counseling (for couples where one partner is leaning out of the relationship, and the other wants to save it). Zoom allows both partners to participate comfortably from the safety and privacy of their own home or office space.
Are Zoom sessions different from in-person sessions?
The short answer to this is no. I do very much the same work whether it is in person or on zoom. Of course, some people prefer to meet with a therapist in person, but many find the convenience of Zoom sessions to be very desirable. And people are often surprised at the sense of connection with the therapist that does occur even over Zoom. The most important thing is that you are in the same room with your partner, not with the therapist.
